The Eldridge City Council will hold a Committee of the Whole meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026, to resume discussions with the Eldridge Volunteer Fire Company regarding the department’s future.
Over the past 10 days, Mayor Scott Campbell has had constructive conversations with Assistant Fire Chief Dave Engler and Councilman Brian Dockery. Earlier this week, Campbell, Dockery, Engler and firefighter Andrew Doyle met to discuss a path forward. During that meeting, the mayor formally proposed holding the Committee of the Whole meeting.
Both parties agreed to exchange written proposals and identify areas of common ground moving forward.
It is clear to all that building trust will be essential to moving the process forward, and that the No. 1 priority must remain doing what is best for the citizens of Eldridge, both short and long term.
