Public Facilities Survey and Information

Eldridge Launches Community-Wide Survey on Future Facility Needs

The City of Eldridge is asking residents to participate in a community-wide survey focused on the future of City facilities, public services, and long-term community planning.

As Eldridge continues to grow, City leaders are seeking public feedback on challenges facing the City’s current Police Station/City Hall and Public Works facilities, both of which were originally intended for much smaller operations and populations. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Eldridge’s population has grown nearly 20% over the past 15 years, increasing  demand for municipal services and placing added strain on aging facilities.

On April 20, 2026 the City Council authorized City staff to work with Community Perceptions to draft and mail a community survey to all Eldridge residents primarily regarding the proposed solution to the challenges of the current City facilities but also to gather input on public service priorities, utility operations, and community satisfaction.

The survey outlines the City’s recommended plan for constructing a new Public Works facility and a new Police Station/City Hall facility while repurposing and redeveloping existing City-owned properties. The proposed plan is estimated at $32.9 million and would require voter approval through a bond referendum.

“Our community’s input is essential as we evaluate how best to meet Eldridge’s future needs,” said Mayor Scott Campbell. “We encourage every resident to take a few minutes to complete the survey and help guide these important decisions.”

Eldridge residents can expect to receive the survey in their mailbox the week of May 25th. An informational letter will accompany the survey which will include more detailed information regarding the challenges facing the current facilities, and the proposed solution to construct new facilities.

It will also provide information regarding the potential funding plan and the impact of that plan on Eldridge residents. To pay for the new facilities, 60% of Eldridge voters would need to approve a bond referendum, which would allow the City to issue debt (take out a loan).

The survey will ask residents to provide feedback on:

  • Community satisfaction and communication preferences
  • Priorities for City services such as police, fire, snow removal, parks, and street maintenance
  • Future operation of the City’s water, sewer, and electric utilities.

WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS

  1. Take the Survey: To ensure confidentiality, survey responses are being collected by Community Perceptions, an independent research firm and will be presented to the City Council and posted on the City’s website. Residents can complete the survey online or place their completed survey in the mail. The deadline is Monday, June 15, 2026.
  2. Attend a Public Informational Meeting: The City is holding an informational meeting for residents to learn more about the proposed project and answer any questions on Thursday, June 4th from 5:00pm 6:00pm at Eldridge City Hall.
  3. Follow the City’s Facebook Page: The City will be sharing survey and project updates on its social media platforms in addition to creating a dedicated project page on the City website. Follow us on Facebook to stay up to date with the latest information and resource guides.

The future of Eldridge is shaped by the people who call it home. We encourage every resident to participate in the survey and help ensure Eldridge continues to grow responsibly while maintaining the small-town atmosphere that makes our community special.
