The Building & Inspections Department is run primarily by the Building Official for the City of Eldridge. This department is responsible for ensuring that construction projects, both residential and commercial, comply with building codes, zoning regulations, and local ordinances. This includes reviewing permits, performing inspections, and working with contractors and property owners to maintain compliance, answer questions, and address complaints.

The Building Official works closely with the City’s Code Enforcement Officer, Utility Superintendents, Permit Clerk, & the EVFD Fire Chief to perform inspections on construction, remodeling, and utility connections to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local building codes, fire codes, and safety standards. Additionally, this department issues building permits and occupancy certificates, and maintains records & documentation for city projects such as inspection reports and permit applications.

Keeping citizens safe is our goal. Conducting regular inspections and maintaining code enforcement ensure the safety, longevity, and look of our structures.
